Abstrakt

This review summarizes the reports on the occurrence of fullerenes in both the terrestrial and extraterrestrial environments. A strong emphasis is placed on stability of fullerenes. In contrast to most of the previously published works, which usually deal with their stability only in terms of possible fullerene survival in geological history, the review also addresses their (photo)chemical stability in extraction procedures. Possible ways of fullerene formation in particular localities are discussed with respect to local conditions and compared with the known laboratory processes.
